'Daruma' Stonewashed Blue Heavy Oversized T-shirt

The Daruma doll is a traditional Japanese talisman of perseverance, resilience, and good fortune. Its round, hollow shape and blank eyes make it immediately recognizable, and it’s often painted red to honour Bodhidharma, the monk who inspired Zen Buddhism. The doll is typically purchased with blank eyes; the owner colours in one eye when setting a specific goal or making a wish. Once the goal is achieved, the other eye is filled in, completing the face and symbolizing the fulfilment of one’s efforts. This tradition is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, reflecting a belief in persistence through adversity. Daruma dolls are especially popular during New Year celebrations in Japan, where they serve as a reminder of dedication to personal growth, fortune, and the idea of “falling seven times, standing up eight” (a Japanese proverb).
