Kitte 切手 'Stamp'. In Japan, stamps have long conveyed national identity and aesthetic values. Early Meiji-era issues bore dragons and the chrysanthemum crest, symbols linking the state to imperial legitimacy and divine order. As printing advanced, cherry blossoms, cranes, and Mount Fuji became recurring motifs, celebrating harmony, longevity, and the sacred landscape.
