The Maneki Neko, or “beckoning cat,” is a widely recognized symbol of luck and prosperity in Japanese culture. Often seen in homes, businesses, and restaurants, this figurine features a cat with one paw raised in a beckoning gesture. According to tradition, a raised left paw attracts customers, while a raised right paw brings wealth and good fortune.

The origins of the Maneki Neko trace back to the Edo period, with legends telling of a cat that saved a nobleman from danger by beckoning him away from harm. Since then, it has become a popular talisman of protection and success.

Typically, Maneki Neko come in various colors, each with its own meaning—white for happiness, gold for wealth, and black for protection. The cat is often depicted holding a koban, a gold coin from the Edo era, further emphasizing its association with wealth and luck. Its enduring presence reflects Japan’s deep connection to symbols of hope and fortune.

In order to keep a low carbon footprint, we recommend you wash at a maximum of 30 degrees.

Do not use a tumble dryer (it's the worst).

Wash inside out and with similar colours.

Iron inside out and not on the print/embroidery.
